My name is Robert Notgrass. I was born in St. Charles, Mo. October 21, 1971. My parents are Richard and Marilyn Notgrass. Since birth and even before, I have attended the Church of Christ. In that area of the country, I was blessed to be a part of two congregations: Charbo and Karen Church of Christ and West End Church of Christ. Both of these congregations I consider my home congregations because I know them and they know me equally.
When I was 13, at 2a.m., I was baptized for the remission of sins. I remember waking my father out of a sound sleep while in bed and telling him that I could not wait until Sunday morning during the invitation song to be baptized for fear that Christ would return and find me unprepared. So, my family all met at the West End Church of Christ building (20 miles away) where my father baptized me.
After that, I quickly became more involved in the church through various activities, Bible call, and evangelism. My family has always been involved and encouraged this from me as well. My father was an elder for many years, my mother a Bible School teacher, and we thought nothing to spend an afternoon in Bible studies, or taking food to someone or getting together in fellowship with the brethren.
It was these things that have been instilled in me from my youth that I try to present in my life today. My desire is to always remain a faithful child of God and to shine as a Christian light to mankind. It is also my desire to teach God’s Word thoroughly and faithfully so that we may all grow in the knowledge and in the understanding of His word.
Now in 1994, I met Rhonda Davis and by Valentine's day 1995, I was married to her. Since that day, we have grown together in life, in faith, and in numbers. We have one son, Brandon who was born in 1995 as well as one daughter Kendra who was born in 1999. In October 2005, my son obeyed the Gospel and went down into the water for the remission of sins so that the Lord would add him to the church as well. This is my family whom I love dearly.
Throughout my life, even before being baptized, I have served the Lord to some extent. Through his blessings, I continue to do that very thing. I have been blessed with being raised in a good home, I have a good family, as well as a good education. I have used these things to promote Christ and to tell the world about Him.
I am one who follows the Bible. To speak where the Bible speaks, to be silent where the Bible is silent, to call Bible things by Bible names and to do Bible things in Bible ways. I do not consider this to be old fashion because God designed the Bible to be above fashions. God intended that in any and all generations that the church be the same.
